Hello Greg, Thank you for forwarding these very interesting links but for the last two I get a ‘security warning’…? I am supposed to click on achoice of questions but I feel a bit resentful. Has anyone one else mentioned this? In passing, these ‘Snickelways’ are more common in various old European cities and I suppose that that’s where they came from to North America? Never tire of discovering your new findings. Thank you!;-)

    Best regards, Joseph

Greg, if you look at the most recent photo you sent me of Low House in Threlkeld, you’ll see that we had a snickelway there. The wooden door on the front of the house at the right opened into an interior passageway that led to the back garden. Now I know what it is called.

Back in seventies, before the Blue Jays had arrived, that kings street building was a very popular bar known as The Dome Stadium owned by ex Argo Bobby Taylor and habituated by Leafs, Argos and visiting pro athletes. Once witness a brawl there involving New York Islander and Leaf players, with patrons not each other…great fun !

  6. A Netflix TV series filmed here recently, I believe. But I can’t remember the name right now.
