What's the Future Ever Done for Me?

Where is This?

Labelled King and Spadina. The modern building on the right side looks familiar but I can’t quite place it….

PHOTO+-+TORONTO+-+KING+NEAR+SPADINA+-+GRAHAM'S+HARDWARE+-+TOLEDO+RESTAURANT+-+1964 Anyone have an old telephone book from the 1960’s?

Could you look up the address of the Toledo restaurant or Graham’s Hardware?

After a lot of input and interest from several readers Mark Moore has solved this puzzle!

Damn him and his cleverness!

This is the north side of King at Charlotte Street just east of Spadina.

King & SpadinaI knew that building was familiar. I used to work in the area and there was a greasy spoon in the basement that I would frequent for a quick lunch.

Thank you Mark for your help.

  1. What would a Bathurst streetcar headed north to St.Clair be doing on King near Spadina?

Picture from 1964. They occasionally diverted streetcars along King. This is two blocks west of Spadina, north side of King.

Looks like a west bound about mid day, looking at the shadow of the power pole.

  5. I thought the building in the background was the northeast corner of Adelaide and Brant. But St Andrew’s Playground has been on the northwest corner since 1850 …

Ok – this one is going to bug me. That building looks so familiar. How about the Vintage Toronto files ? They have albums by street.
